Page : Management Console
Location : Manager's Office - Management Console

General Description - From this page, you may choose the degree to which the game's artificial intelligence (AI) controls your teams. All boxes are initially checked for AI control at the minor league levels. Reminder all values are percentage based.

Manage Offense? - Checking this box will indicate to the game's AI that you would like to relinquish control over your four batting lineups (VS LHP, VS RHP, VS LHP w/DH and VS RHP w/DH), hierarchies and position player player settings for your minor league team(s). The game's AI will assess the players most likely to start at each position based on overall rating for the situation (vs. LHP or vs. RHP) and primary positions. It will then utilize an algorithm based on current ratings to optimize your lineups for winning. For example, your team's fastest, low-power, position player starter will likely be placed at the top of the lineup, while the top overall offensive player will probably placed in the third spot of the lineup. This will not necessarily optimize your team for player development as the same logic is used for lineup optimization at each level. Any time a player is promoted or demoted to this level, the AI will re-order lineups to account for new players and removed players. You may select to have the AI set all of your minor league lineups, any of the five levels (AAA, AA, High-A, Low-A and Rookie Ball) or any combination of the levels.

Manage Pitching Staff? - Checking this box will indicate to the game's AI that you would like to relinquish control over your pitching staff and pitcher player settings for your minor league team(s). The game's AI will assess the pitchers most likely to start (tandem or not) and relieve (with priority given to more valuable relief positions) based on overall rating for the type of pitching situation. It will then utilize an algorithm based on current ratings to optimize your rotation and relief roles for winning. For example, your team's best starting pitcher will be set to Starter #1. Your team's best relief pitcher will generally become its closer. This will not necessarily optimize your team for player development as the same logic is used for staff optimization at each level. Any time a pitcher is promoted or demoted to this level, the AI will make related adjustments. You may select to have the AI set roles for all of your minor league pitching staffs, any of the five levels (AAA, AA, High-A, Low-A and Rookie Ball) or any combination of the levels.

Manage Pitching Staff Cont'd? - The AI will also automatically shuffle relief pitchers to and from the inactive list based on your specified fatigue setting. For example, let's say your setting is 30%. If, following a game, one of your relief pitchers is listed at 0% (20%) fatigue, then he will be de-activated if another pitcher is available on the Inactive List (above his auto rest level). The roster move would be made because the pitcher's fatigue level after a day of rest would be 20%, which falls below the 30% setting.

Manage Disabled Lists? - Checking this box will indicate to the game's AI that the it should be responsible for placing injured players on the appropriate disabled lists as well as activating players when healthy. These types of moves typically result in player promotions/demotions and/or the removal/addition of players to the Inactive List. These roster moves then trigger the other AI pieces to be used (if the AI is checked to do so.) You may select to have the AI set roles for all of your minor league pitching staffs, any of the five levels (AAA, AA, High-A, Low-A and Rookie Ball) or any combination of the levels.

Manage your big league roster? - Checking this box will indicate to the game's AI that the it should be responsible for handling injuries and the necessary promotions, demotions, lineup changes, pitching staff changes and player setting changes stemming from the disabled list moves. It will also make offers to the players selected in the amateur draft. As noted on the page, it is not a recommended option for winning and is geared towards keeping a franchise's big league team healthy.

Minimum Auto Rest Recommendations - By setting the values in the drop down lists you can define what the Auto Rest recommendations are for your starting pitchers, relievers, and position players. Simply select the values that you want, head on over to the player settings page, click the "Show Recs" button and you will see the impact of your changes immediately. Please note that these settings DO NOT affect any pitcher set to the mopup role; mopup pitchers always use the 50% value as their recommendation.

Save - After checking or unchecking boxes, please click 'Save' to ensure that any changes will apply.

Franchise Recommendations - Click the desired level's 'Recs' button to automatically set the recommendations for all managerial settings.
